On November 1, 1913, a coal oil lamp exploded in the home of Frank and Mary Katherine Rafferty. Mrs. Rafferty and two of her children, Mary Christina and Anna Elizabeth, lost their lives in the fire. Mr. Rafferty was severly burned trying to rescue his family. Mr. Rafferty's son, Neil, survived.
